Focused Contact Diathermy – TR-Therapy

If you are looking for a good specialist who will perform a focused contact diathermy visit the Center for Brain Stimulation. Our experienced specialists perform the procedure using modern equipment. Before starting the course of contact diathermy, a diagnostic examination and consultation with a doctor is performed.

TR-therapy is the impact on human tissue high-frequency electromagnetic energy, which causes deep tissue warming and blood flow to the affected area. The principle of action of the procedure is based on an innovative technique that allows for the regeneration of cells. This action is necessary for the successful treatment of many pathologies and various injuries. TR-therapy (or focused contact diathermy) is similar to TECAR therapy but has only recently emerged as a safer and more effective method of physiotherapy.

TR therapy is often used as part of the complex treatment of sports and other injuries, musculoskeletal pathologies and chronic pain syndromes. According to some specialists, focused contact diathermy may replace massage or therapeutic gymnastics procedures if they are contraindicated for some reason to the patient.

Who can benefit from TR therapy and when?

A visit to the Center for Brain Stimulation may be necessary for patients with musculoskeletal system problems, prolonged debilitating pain of various localizations, and the occurrence of trauma.

Focused contact diathermy and other types of physiotherapy are extremely popular in sports. They speed up and improve the recovery results of athletes. Also, TR therapy is demanded among people who lead an active way of life: hiking, mountaineering, horseback riding, etc. Often the patients of our physiotherapy room are those who like to work on their homestead.

This type of physiotherapy is often prescribed for people whose work involves standing for a long time in a sitting or other static position. Pain in the joints and muscles often torment people who suffer from obesity. Being overweight puts a great strain on the locomotor apparatus, which is why back and lower extremity pains occur more often than in people of normal weight. TR therapy is often prescribed for hereditary predisposition to arthritis and other pathologies of the musculoskeletal system.

Contraindications

There are few contraindications to TR therapy, but they must be taken into account when choosing this method of treatment. Otherwise, the procedure associated with the heating of tissues may aggravate the course of the inflammatory process or related diseases.

Contact diathermy is not indicated for these pathologies:

  • Infectious diseases and other acute inflammatory processes;
  • fever;
  • skin damage of inflammatory or traumatic origin in the area of exposure;
  • impaired sensitivity;
  • bleeding;
  • haemorrhages;
  • suspicion of the presence or presence of detected cancerous processes;
  • after radiotherapy;
  • tuberculosis;
  • general exhaustion;
  • the presence of metal structures in the body.

In addition, the procedure is contraindicated during menstruation, pregnancy and under 18 years of age.

Diathermy electrodes are not applied on the projection areas of the genital and endocrine glands, on the areas with significant nerve plexuses, which are not located deep under the skin.

Diagnostics and Preparation

To determine the indications and contraindications for prescribing TR therapy sessions, the patient must have a consultation with a doctor. After examining the patient's complaints the specialist may prescribe various tests and examinations to identify a particular pathology in which the procedure should not be prescribed. If necessary, the patient is referred to a specialist (general practitioner, dermatologist, etc.) for consultation.

After the appointment, the procedure can be performed without the need for special preparation. It is sufficient for the patient not to use any cosmetic or other products on the day of the diathermy session and to wear comfortable clothing. The procedure is not recommended in cases as follows:

  • if the patient has electronic or metal implants;
  • during pregnancy;
  • in the area of growing cartilage and bones;
  • bleeding and clotting disorders;
  • during the use of anticoagulants;
  • cancer patients;
  • in the presence of fever.

You should also keep away from the applicator if you have credit and debit cards, USB sticks, cell phones, tablets, watches, computers, or ferromagnetic materials with you.

Procedure

Diathermy in the Centre for Brain Stimulation is performed with the BTL 6000 TR-therapy expert class device. During the procedure, the arm of the device is pointed at trigger points. It delivers high-frequency energy to the desired areas and provokes the development of hyperthermia.

During the session, which lasts about half an hour (depending on the initial diagnosis), the patient feels no discomfort. In the affected area, one feels warmth, muscle relaxation and almost instant pain reduction.

After the procedure, it is recommended not to expose yourself to drafts and hypothermia. Some patients notice slight discomfort after the session. Rarely, irritation may occur on the skin. These signs are self-repairing and do not require special treatment. The necessity of temporary cancellation of the sessions is determined by the doctor personally.

If necessary, a course of directional contact diathermy can be combined with other physical therapy techniques. It can enhance the effectiveness of massage, physical therapy and other procedures. Three to eight treatments are needed to obtain the desired effect of TR therapy. The exact number of sessions is prescribed by the doctor personally.

Effects

The procedure is prescribed to produce the following effects of TR therapy:

  • blood flow;
  • elimination of muscle spasms;
  • acceleration of metabolic processes;
  • anti-inflammatory effect;
  • elimination of oedema;
  • pain reduction;
  • acceleration of tissue regeneration;
  • elimination of toxic products;
  • improving the results of other treatments;
  • accelerating the recovery time after diseases or injuries.

The supply of high-frequency energy to the necessary areas causes the effect of hyperthermia. This can be deep muscle, joint tissues, ligamentous apparatus.
